100 Watts - Earth Matters Networks

100KWatts of Green

Our health, your health, and the health of the planet is dependent on our ability to share. We want to share our time, experience and knowledge. The Earth shares her resources, however, we need your financial assistance to complete this fulfilling cycle. Our goal, with your assistance, is to improve humanity’s place with the Earth today and into the future.

We believe President Obama was referring to organizations like ours when he said “We will harness the sun, the winds and the soil to fuel our cars and run our factories.” Your financial gift will assist us in reaching our campaign goal of $100,000 for this fiscal year. This will allow us to keep a “green future” at the community forefront and, it will enable us to continue and enhance the programs and projects we have undertaken.

EARTH MATTERS!
FROM THE DESK
of
Nashville City Council,
District 19

Happy 2009,

For over 18 years, EarthMatters Tennessee has been an important part of the pro-active, greening solutions in Nashville. The effectiveness of this organization has been demonstrated thru:
500,000 lbs of local, organic compost created for growing vegetables, flowers, and fruits The DeFord Bailey Tribute Rose Garden, featuring
nearly 260 rose bushes named after country music songs and singers, all organically maintained

The George W. Carver Food Park with its vegetable and herb beds, a greenhouse, children’s playplace, conversation garden and the Carver Performance Pavillion

Educational classes and presentations on ecology and permaculture, field trips and experiential outings provided to schools, churches,
families and neighborhood groups

As a member of the city council, I have seen the positive impact of this organization in terms of food security, improved quality of life for constituents, and helping young people go on to environmentally responsible employment and to lead earth-friendly lifestyles. Director and founder Sizwe Herring has led this dynamic group since its
inception. For over 18 years he has provided integral support throughout the community, conducted over 100 workshops on “Going Green”, and has won numerous awards for his work, including the 2002 Teacher of the Year for Middle Tennessee.

To date, EarthMatters has been supported from a major grant from Lifeworks Foundation. To do more, however, this organization
needs more. 100,000 Watts of Green is designed to raise the financial
energy needed to blaze a trail toward a safer, healthier, greener, Nashville. Your tax deductable contribution will energize Nashville’s
grassroots environmental movement.

You can feel confident that your generous gift of $10.00 to $1000.00 will furthur the mission of this valuable community enterprise. Then you can sit back and count yourself as part of the growing solution that is saving our city, our children, and our Earth.

Respectfully,

100,000 Watts of Green Campaign
